It’s not grand, but I think I like it

I didn’t want to watch it, just skipped through it a couple of days ago and decided to leave it. but somehow I ended up being bored and wanted some entertainment for breakfast today, so I undeleted the episode and actually watched it.

What I’m talking about is Moonlight, a new CBS-series about a good-hearted vampire P.I. It’s nothing original, the writing is not especially crafty, the characters reminded me of fellow vampire-camp Blood Ties, except they were more naive and – to me – more likeable. I just didn’t take to the vampire in Blood Ties, and it just didn’t make sense for me to keep watching just for Christina Cox. Also the base story didn’t intrigue me. However the character relationship between Beth and Mick in Moonlight interests me (for no good or apparent reason, it just does). And of course I enjoy seeing Jason Dohring in a different role. Logan ended up as such a whiner on Veronica Mars, I almost couldn’t bear to watch him anymore. Dohring as a 400-year old, capitalist, cynical vampire however make me smile. His acting seems to have gotten better, which may of course be because of external reasons like the character he’s playing. Generally I think it’s great that all three “main” (young) actors from Veronica Mars have gotten work already: Kristen Bell has a weekly audio appearance on the CW series Gossip Girl, Chris Lowell is doing Private Practice with Addison Kate Walsh.

I’m going to stay tuned for reasons I don’t know.To be precise Moonlight is one of the shows I have “on probation. Be warned: it’s not “great television”, I just watch it for entertainment. And I’m not going to deny you the scorchers: NYT, Variety
