First promo for the fifth season of The L Word – and I absolutely love it. It made me forget how disappointed I was in seasons two and three and how narrowly season four became a watchable show.
This one is the first L Word promo ever that truly makes me look forward to the next season. If the promo can already make me laugh and cry and cheer, then this could truly become a great season. Maybe I like it so much because it’s not so “drama queen” like, maybe because the song is simply magnificent, maybe because the shots are soft and nicely lighted. Whatever it is, I think I just became a fan again. But have a look for yourselves. And anyone know what the song is, please do tell me…
edit: apparently the song is Be Be Your Love by Rachael Yamagata

I love the promo too — makes me look forward to the Tibette storyline. I lost interest in The L Word around the middle of season 2, lost faith entirely in season 3 — but then the Bette, Tina and Jody storyline just won me back by season 4.
Rachael Yamagata with that raspy alto — like a Norah Jones who’s drunk and swears like a sailor. If you ever get the chance, try to catch her in concert — she’s heartbreakingly confessional onstage — always sharing stories about her failed relationships and regrets. Or get her CD.
You will not regret Rachael Yamagata. Soundtrack for your heartaches. Or to slash your wrist to.

I agree, too! SO PSYCHED! Despite the fact it looks like they’re really playing up the pulp-lesbo-prison thing…they’re really going there! In truth, I think they’ve finally earned this type of promo — the characters have all gone off in so many different directions — it’s almost like the series itself — writers/creator — are ‘coming home.’

I got Rachael Yamagatas album “Happenstance” yesterday, and it’s decidedly great music to listen to outside in autumn. perfect. I didn’t want to slash my wrists though
